How To Lose Inner Thigh Fat

category: Smoothie Articles

We live in a generation where most people want to look their best, and a weight issue can easily get in the way of our confidence and being able to enjoy certain activities without feeling insecure. There are a lot of people that are overweight, and it seems as though many overlook it or can just be too lazy to try and do anything about it. A lot of people and more so women want to lose weight in the belly and the inner thighs.

The inner thigh fat can be reduced by concentrating on doing some of the fat burning exercises. You could go to the gym, run, or use your own exercise equipment at home. One can make very easy use of the hip and thigh sculptor machine to get rid of the inner thigh fat. The exercise machine has two different ways that you can use it. One has to sit on the machine first to be able to strut the feet on the two lifted bars. Grab hold of the bars located on either side of you and press down on the bars that your feet are planted on. You will slowly stretch your legs by pushing your feet down on the bars and then slowly raise them back up. This is the best way to reduce the fat. There are also some pads located on the side of your thighs on the machine. One more method is to put the thighs on the small pads and then push them in and out on the side ways to bring it back. There is no difference of this to the jumping jacks by sitting down as one tries to uphold the legs and draw it closer in a slow motion and not in a fast manner. You can very easily watch online videos on how to do it.

Now, a good way on how to get rid of belly fat fast would be to try out some weight loss smoothies. Though exercise is always the best way to lose weight most of the people are trying to take the weight loss smoothies as well. The smoothies taken by people in the morning before going to the office are really full of energy giving nutrients and protein. You can bring down your lunch eating and suppress you appetite in this way. There will be reduction in your stomach as you will have a lesser need to eat more food.

Fruits like banana and strawberries being added to the smoothies makes it packed with antioxidants and flushes the intestines of all the toxins by helping you to digest food better. Once you dispel the body toxins and waste fat will be very useful in reduction of belly fat.

Losing Weight Naturally – 2 Tips to Easy & Successful Weight Loss

category: Smoothie Articles

In a world of temptation, most people find staying lean is difficult if not almost impossible. Weight loss can feel like a burden when everyone around you is eating whatever they want and most of them aren’t piling it on like you do. However, losing weight does not have to be a chore and does not mean you have to stick to foods you do not enjoy. It just means you need to start focusing on small changes and adding them into your life at a pace that is comfortable for you.

This article goes over 2 tips to help you get to where you want with your figure.

1. Drink More Water – This cannot be stressed enough. Every overweight person I dehydrated to some extent, so if you are carrying a lot of weight then you need to drink more. Cooked food is generally very dry as well so it is important to make sure we keep our fluid levels up. A good step to take when it comes to trying to get more water into us is to cut out other beverages like coffee and tea that can dehydrate us further and to stick to just water only. It is also important to eat lots of fresh raw fruits and vegetables that are packed full of water too. These will hydrate you as well and will help you keep water levels up. A indication of good hydration levels is that your urine is clear or nearly clear and that you are peeing 7-10 times a day.

Hydration is very important. Even if you are slightly dehydrated it can leave you feeling tired and lethargic it, so it is well worth maintaining fluid levels.

2.) Eat More Raw Foods – There is no denying it that fruit and vegetables are good for our bodies. We are always told to get our 5-a-day, however our bodies need much more than 5 a day to be healthy and vibrant! The best way to eat more raw foods without piling it on too much is to make a commitment to eat fresh raw foods before every meal. Wake up and have some oranges before breakfast. You could even squeeze them yourself to give yourself a little workout too. Alternatively you could also have a fruit only breakfast by having a large green smoothie or fruit smoothie. A green smoothie is just spinach or other leafy greens blended with fruit and a little water. With your fruit smoothie you do not have to add milk or other things. Simply blend 4-5 bananas, some berries and you have a simple delicious breakfast. The great thing about this type of breakfast is that it will sustain you, is light and light on your digestion and will not leave you feeling sluggish before you have even left for work or gone about your day.

For other meals you could eat 4-5 pieces of fruit (4 apples, 4 oranges etc) or however much you desire. Not only will fruit before your meal help you eat less of the main meal, which at the beginning will be your regular meal that is mostly high calorie, but it will also help you feel more satiated after your meal. Most people just want a little extra something something after they have eaten and this usually involves something sweet. Well have your dessert first in the form of fruit. This way round is also much better on your digestion. How to lose weight naturally isn’t as complicated as many people seem to think. Stick to small changes, enjoy what you are doing and weight loss will come easily.

Food Processor Recipes for a Healthier Lifestyle

category: Smoothie Articles

It seems like every few months or so there is a new diet craze or miracle workout that comes around. Sure, a lot of these may work for a little while, but they never lead to a sustainable lifestyle change.

How is it possible that our country just had a national debate about health care and yet so little of it centered around what we eat? Our diets are one of the most essential parts of our overall health and well-being. Eating right and exercising is preventative medicine in its purest form.

When you prepare your own meals it is much easier to eat healthy because you can see exactly what you are putting into your food. Does a recipe seem to call for too much oil or cheese? Cut it down, substitute it with something else, or consider making a different meal. Here are a few healthy and delicious recipes that you can make with a food processor.

Breakfast Fruit Smoothie

Starting your day off with a delicious fruit smoothie is a great way to get around the habit of grabbing a coffee and a donut on the way to work. You will also be amazed at how little prep time it takes. If you have time to turn on the coffee pot, you have time to fix yourself a delicious and healthy smoothie.

1 banana
½ cup frozen (or fresh) mixed berries
¼ cup frozen (or fresh) pineapple bits
½ cup orange juice
2 heaping tablespoons low fat yogurt

Simply blend this all up in a blender like the Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel Immersion Blender and serve right away. The best thing about smoothies is how flexible and open to interpretation the recipes are. You can use a little papaya instead of the pineapple or use fresh squeezed oranges instead of the orange juice. The only limit to what you can do is your imagination.

Muhammara

The Middle Eastern chickpea spread hummus is a staple of food processor cuisine. So much so that you might want to mix things up a bit every now and then.

Muhammara is a tradional Syrian hot pepper dip that uses breadcrumbs and walnuts instead of chickpeas. This recipe is a little bit less spicy than normal and it goes just as well with raw vegetables or pita bread as hummus does.

3 roasted red peppers (jarred or roasted on the stove top then pealed and seeded)
2/3 cup homemade breadcrumbs (mashed up oyster crackers works great)
1 cup walnuts, toasted
4 big cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons agave nectar
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
salt to taste

To prepare, just put everything in a fair-sized food processor like the Hamilton Beach 500-watt 14-cup food processor and puree until smooth. Start by just adding a little bit of salt and then adding more as needed. Muhammara is fun to make when you sort of season as you go, tasting your way to the finish line.

If you want a spicier dish, you can substitute the ground pepper flakes for a chopped up jalapeno pepper. This dish is also best when you let it sit overnight to allow the flavors to blend.

Kale Salad with Chipotle Avocado Dressing

This recipe requires no cooking so the kale itself maintains all of its essential nutrients. By massaging in the salt, however, the kale will wilt and take on a cooked texture. The dressing for this is so delicious you will be looking for all kinds of other places to use it! This recipe feeds at least four people so invite over some friends!

4 heads of kale (again, this will look like a lot but it will wilt down a lot with the salt)
1 tablespoon salt
2 cups sliced cherry tomatoes
1 onion, chopped
1 cup hulled hemp seeds

Dressing
3 avocados, peeled and with center removed
2 chipotle peppers
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons agave nectar
¼ cup lemon juice

Start by removing the stems from the kale. Wash it well and then tear it into bite-sized pieces. Put it in a bowl and begin to massage half the salt right into the kale. Massage until the kale starts to wilt and begins to have a cooked texture. If it is being stubborn you can use more salt, but the less you use the healthier the meal. Just keep massaging!

When it takes on a good texture you can mix in the onions, tomatoes, and hemp seeds.

Now it is time to make the dressing. All you do is dump the dressing ingredients into a food processor like the Black and Decker 10-cup 500-watt Food Processor and puree. If you are concerned with the amount of fat from the olive oil you can use more lemon juice and less EVOO.

Remember that it isn’t always what you cook, it is the act of cooking itself that is important. When you go out to a restaurant you are only choosing what to pick off the menu. When you cook from scratch you are making literally dozens of food choices about what you are putting in your body. These choices will add up to a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Fueling Up in the Morning for Kids

category: Smoothie Articles

<!– PARAGRAPH 1 –>I’m sure you can relate – not hungry in the morning? It’s not always easy for us to have a good breakfast so early in the day. And with early morning school hours, it’s sometimes difficult to get our kids to eat before they leave for school.

But there are ways to strike a happy medium – a small meal, quick snack, or smoothie. It is so important to fuel the brain on a regular basis, especially after having fasted overnight.  Breakfast time is truly a time for breaking the fast and starting the day with good fuel.

Our children are not eating breakfasts that support proper brain function. They are not taking in the proper nutrients to manufacture the brain chemicals or neurotransmitters. This deficiency of fuel can lead to blood sugar imbalance and energy or metabolic dysfunction. And moreover, focus, concentration and memory can become impaired. It’s only logical.

Possible effects of an “un-fueled” brain:

hyperactivity
lack of focus and attention
poor memory
foggy thinking
day-dreaming
depression
poor hand-eye coordination
grouchy
irritable
mood swings
cravings for sugar or stimulants, like caffeine
fatigue
lowered metabolism, leading to obesity

The following two studies reveal important stats about children and breakfast intake. Let’s not forget that adults are big kids. We have bodies and brains that need fuel too.

Breakfast and Cognition: An Integrative Summary
Pollitt E; Mathews R, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 1998 Apr;67(4):804S-813S  (98196983 NLM)

The pooled data suggests that omitting breakfast interferes with cognition and learning, an effect that is more pronounced in nutritionally at-risk children than in well-nourished children. Breakfast consumption improves school attendance, reduces tardiness and enhances the quality of the students’ diets.

Trends in Breakfast Consumption for Children in the US
Siega-Riz AM; Popkin BM; Carson T, Amer Journal Clini Nutr, 1998 Apr; 67(4):748S-756S (98196974 NLM)

“We examined breakfast consumption patterns and trends for children (1-10 yr old) and adolescents (11-18 yr old) in the U.S. Results indicated a decline in breakfast consumption, 15% in boys and 20% in girls, particularly for older adolescents.

A large percentage of children aged 11 and over do not consume breakfast. “Given the association of obesity with less frequent breakfast consumption and the rise in obesity in this age group, a renewed emphasis on the importance of breakfast is warranted.”

To avoid the effects of an “un-fueled” brain, we and our children need proportionally-balanced and easily assimilable proteins, essential fatty acids, trace minerals and complex carbohydrates. In the following information you will find ideas from quick, out-the-door breakfast foods, to traditional and weekend breakfast ideas.

Power Breakfasts

Upon arising, drink 6-8 ounces of fresh, pure water. Fruit juice should be kept to a minimum, but when consumed, should be diluted with water by one third.

1-2 scrambled, over-easy, or poached eggs. 1 small red potato sautéed into hash browns.
1-2 scrambled eggs, wrapped in a corn tortilla. Side of fruit.
Whole grain toast or bagel with almond or cashew butter (Can add fruit-sweetened jam or raw honey.)
1-2 whole grain or gluten-free waffles with cinnamon sugar (made with sugar substitute such as Sucanat) or raw honey or honeycomb.
2 whole grain or gluten-free pancakes. Top with ground sunflower, flax or sesame seeds and pure maple syrup or fruit sweetened jam.
Rice, hemp or whey protein and/or fruit smoothie. (Next week we’ll send tips for good smoothie recipes.)
Whole grain muffin.  Add a side dish of yogurt.
1 cup whole grain cold cereal (from the health food store) with organic dairy milk, rice milk, or almond milk. Use alternative natural sweetener, if desired.
Whole grain hot cereal such as: oatmeal, cream of buckwheat, cream of rice, or kashi with honey or stevia to sweeten, and rice milk, hemp milk or dairy milk.
Brown rice pudding with raisins or dried dates and rice or dairy milk. For sweetener use stevia, honey or maple syrup, not refined sugar. (Can be made a day ahead.)
Yogurt with fresh, sliced blueberries, strawberries or banana.

Helpful Hints:

If your child does not like eggs, you can add ground sesame and sunflower seeds to a pancake breakfast (on top or in the batter) for protein and essential fatty acids.
Sugar, honey or maple syrup should not be used daily. But if you use maple syrup, you can pre-dilute the maple syrup with flax oil for extra essential fatty acids. This will typically go undetected.
Who says we have to only eat breakfast food in the morning. And – no – I don’t mean pizza! A bowl of a favorite, piping hot soup on a cold morning may hit the spot. Maybe a bit or sliced turkey or ½ a burger from the night before. There are so many non-breakfast options to choose from. All it takes is for the light to go on – a shift in perception – to eat “outside the box”.

 Quick “Out-the-Door” Breakfasts

Sliced organic turkey
Apple, banana or other piece of fruit
Trail mix (if not allergic to nuts)
Whole grain breakfast bar, such as Clif Kid ZBar, organic, wheat and dairy-free, no trans fats
O rganic yogurt (Maple and vanilla are better choices than fruit-sweetened.)
Fruit smoothie with rice or whey protein
Hemp, rice or whey protein shake with organic dairy milk, goat milk or rice milk
Cottage cheese with ground sunflower and flax seeds
