Carrot juice is excellent to fight against natural lens hardening. start early like in your twenties and stick with it.

I’m a certified ophthalmic technician. Needing glasses does not mean you don’t have healthy eyes. The shape of your eyes determines a glasses Rx. If the eye is too long the person will be near sighted, if the eye is too short the person will be far sighted. The shape and thickness of the cornea also determines a person’s focus ability. No exercises help this. Near vision problems start around age 40-45 because of natural lens hardening.

thanks for the recipe! goji berries are my #1 thing recommended for eye health…because they keep the eye/retinal area hydrated. drying eyes are one of the top reasons people have degeneration, so goji’s are the best to prevent this…combine it with some bilberry, and you’re set! :)

Probably not what you vegan types would prefer, but high quality cod liver oil, and raw egg smoothies from my uncaged backyard chickens.

Also, because I’m an accountant with my face in front of a computer 12 hours a day, I have a 100+ watt equivalent full spectrum light always on right next to my monitor. It takes some getting used to if you think your monitor should be brighter than the surroundings, but I think my vision is better for it. (33 and no glasses, but about 20/50 vision.)

    1) Schizandra berries or powder
    2) Sheperds purse, a herb
    3) Purple corn extract or flour
    4)Goji
    5) cayenne pepper

And yes I am the person who insulted him for wearing glasses, he will know my username.

That was not rude! He other guy was. You handled it well.

5 yrs ago a diabetic friend, with a glaucoma halo already, changed to Atkins type diet (lower on meats though), Eyebright Tincture 3x daily & Bilberry pills, drinks more water, all signs of glaucoma were gone less than 8 months.

He’s 67 now, still taking all the same just in case. Going strong – still whips 35yr olds at serious-tennis. Amazing :)

Lol, what’s with all these people recommending things like liver for eye health?!?! Anyone thinking animal products are good for you eyes should read “The China Study”… case closed.

Or check out The Blue Zones. The top 4 longest lived societies eat VERY little meat. One of them is vegan (Loma Linda California). Some eat meat once a week tops or even just once a year!

There may be some nutrients in animal products known to help eyes, but overall bodily degeneration from meat is not worth it.

EPA and DHA come from algae which the fish eat. You can get plenty of these fats from spirulina, chlorella, AFA and marine phytoplankton.

Vitamin A is found in many fruits and vegetables.

Animals get ALL of their nutrients from plants. The only nutrient found in animal products that aren’t found in plants is CHOLESTEROL.

I eat red palm oil as a vitamin E supplement.
It’s supposed to also have more carotene than carots.
Some people can’t properly convert carotene to vitamin A.

Eggyolk would be good for the eye’s.
I use raw yolks in homemade mayonaise.

Liver contains vitamin A, that doesn’t have to be converted like carotenoids.
I take cod liver oil, wich also contains EPA and DHA, Omega-3 fatty acids.
Some people can’t properly convert the plant based Omega-3 Alpha Linoleic Acid to EPA and DHA.

OH you guys have to get the juicer I have, it is super easy to clean and manual, it is the lexan manual health juicer and it does leafy greens and grasses! I have a couple juicing vids and you can see it in action if you are interested, just ***** it onto the end of the counter and it’s a cinch. Seriously.. Good good for the eyes, Elderberry, billberry, anything colorful has beta carotene in it and yes, being precursor to vit A, you need vit. D to help absorb, so cod liver oil.

  23. HomesteadProvocateur on August 14th, 2009 1:00 am

LOL!!! You aren’t healthy because you wear glasses!! Hehehe, too freaking funny. It’s not rude, c’mon, people can be people!! :)
