How do I make a smoothie?

Category: Smoothie Q&A

I have a whole bunch of fruit in the house (strawberries, bananas, apples, cherries, grapes, and a watermelon) that I want to use up before it goes bad. I would like to make a yummy smoothie that my kids will drink. What exactly do I mix with the fruit to make it good like at a smoothie shop? Yogurt, milk, ice, what?? Thanks for any suggestions!

    1 cup nonfat milk

firstly it is not healthy if you put yoghurt or milk as that is not a smoothie but in actual fact it is a milkshake, to make a proper and ‘yummy’ smooothie you need to buy a smoothie maker as a blender will only make the fruit lumpy. The best combination your kids will enjoy are strawberries and bananas.

p.s jus make them a fruit salad.
    have a good day

The receipe for an Orange Julius is:

    1 cup of orange juice,
    1 cup water,
    2 egg whites,
    3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract,
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 heaping cup of ice.

Put all of this together in a blender on high speed for 15 to 30 seconds.

You can use this as a basis for the other fruits you have.

ok… they’re many different smoothie combinations you can make with all those berries. A very popular one is Bananas, Strawberries, and Orange juice. Depending on the amount of people you make it for; say you are just making it for your self= 1 banana, about 4-6 strawberries depending on how strawberrieish you want it, and about 2 cups of o.j, and a few ice cubes. You blend it all together, and there you have a s.b.o smoothie. For the others i really don’t know… hope this helped. p.s if you want you could probley add 1 or 2 cherries in it…

You should try and choose a good smoothie maker – - or blender to make your smoothie recipes with and ensure that its motor is powerful enough and its blades strong enough to handle ice and frozen fruits / ice cream.

There are tons of smoothie recipes out there with all types of flavors, ingredients, health benefits and tons more. The key to finding good smoothie recipes is to first find what kind of smoothies you are looking for.

When you make a smoothie, you usually just kinda, “wing” it. Usually when i make a smoothie, i usually do something like this…
Fruits… strawberrys and bananas together are most common.
Yogurt – can be plain, or even fruit flavored adds some flavor.
    Some ice-
Fruit Juice.- apple juice, orange juice tastes really good! :), grape juice, whatever juice you have lying around.

You may want to blend the fruit a little before adding the ice, because if you have a traditional smoothie maker, its not as easy to blend all of those items together like an actual blender. If you have an actual blender, than go right ahead :)

And then you have a smoothie! :) you can use this recipe with any fruit you think would taste good!
    hope this helps!

You can use strawberries and bananas. Put milk in blender like half ways put 1 banana, 4-6 strawberries some sugar or substitute and some ice then blend. You have a smoothie. You can also look in foodnetwork.com and you’ll find some more recipes with the fruits you have.

You can also make watermelon juice. Cut it up in pieces but take out seeds and blend with some water and sugar and you have juice. You can add more fruit if you like .

Smoothie shops use more ice cream and yogurt.

suggestion you can always peel and freeze the bananas in a freezer bag- i store 2-3 in a bag in the freezer door and strawberries and grapes too, yummy, The frozen grapes are a great treat on a HOT day, also good as “ice fruit” for punch. As far as a smoothie, I did see a few good suggestions already. I would not recommend cherries unless you take the time to de-stem and pit them, kids have more fun just snacking on a bowl of cherries. Watermelon is very liquidity and would not be good for a smoothie. If you were making a fruit drink like thru a juicer then it would be find w/ apple and bananas
