I read about green smoothies when I was on day 4 or 5 of a 100% raw month. It was my first attempt. The first few days I had upset stomachs, but once I started doing green smoothies the problem went away. I have never used powders so I can’t comment on them, but the smoothies are great for digestion, cleansing, and energy. Congratulations on going raw!

Id like to know what others think of this or if they ever tried it. Due to time constraints and small Kitchen space and lack of Kitchen Equipment, im going to go 100% Raw Vegan, but my ONLY sources of greens will be
These Various Popular, Hugely Promoted Raw Grass Powders such as Vitamineral Green , Pure Synergy, Spirulina, and E3Live Algae, along with Organic Fruits and Fats. Has anyone else out there ever tried this for a few Months ?

    Why is she overweight?

And Victoria is correct, as you drink more and more Green Smoothies, you do acquire a taste for the Greens.

When I first tried a few sprigs of Parsley in a Green Smoothie I said, “no way will I EVER like Parsley in a Green Smoothie”. Months later, I can dump in a WHOLE BUNCH and actually enjoy it!

As a VitaMix demonstrator I keep Victoria’s book on my booth and serve my famous “Emerald Ecstasy” Green Smoothie to my audiences.

I frequently get this question about food combining.

All I can say is that I was bed-ridden with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 7 years prior to drinking Green Smoothies. After adding Green Smoothies to my diet, I regained enough energy to take on the physically demanding job of VitaMix demonstrator.

I’m a green smoothie addict now! It is so easy to get your fruit and veggie servings in for the day this way, and it makes me crave MORE fresh veggies. Cheers. :)

Greens are actually considered to be their own food group and CAN be combined with fruits safely. It cures hypothyroidism- it doesn’t cause it.

    good presentation!
But actually if one looks at the “food combining”…then it considers mixing vegetables or leaves (kale, collard etc) with sub-acidic fruits like apples, mangoes, cherries, grapes etc POOR. Yes, all of them might be good in their own respect but not good together. Like two powerful people (but enemies) together. Which is why might end up in constipation, thyroid problems etc…etc.!!!Any comments on this?

I have just read her book “green for life” I am impressed. I have benifitted from her teaching and admire the fact that she took active steps for her family. She is a rare pearl. I hope someday to meet this amazeing woman who is becomming one of my heros.

  11. originallimu on December 25th, 2008 12:03 pm

because she is still acidic from eating the poor quality foods that are widely available.

  12. originallimu on December 25th, 2008 7:48 pm

it measures the amount of complexed sugars (BRIX)..so the higher the BRIX the higher the minerals & overall nutrition. Commercially farmed greens are full of toxic Non-Protein Nitrogen (NPN), which makes them taste horrible.

Really ? since when ? the whole family is totally 100% — Ive read all their books … and met the whole family

  15. kmcl11 on December 28th, 2008 9:30 pm

    what were the effects?

  16. kmcl11 on December 29th, 2008 4:49 pm

Yes but she is not 100% raw foodist.

BRIX refractometer ? What are we testing for?

  18. originallimu on December 31st, 2008 5:29 am

High Brix greens are sweet and yummy, so test your greens with a BRIX refractometer & you will see why you don’t like to eat them on their own. Supermarket produce is not worthy of human consumption. That’s why bugs eat it, b/c they see w/i the lower Electromagnetic spectrum, and they will not touch high Brix plants.

ok, to respond to the people who think victoria is sick looking or overweight. if you bothered to read her book you will realize that she has lost a LOT of weight. she may have plateaued at a weight that is not stick-skinny. also, she lives in portland which is not known for its sunshine! most of us in the northwest are vitamin D deprived in the winter and look also look pale.

the Boutenko’s are the most awesome people in the raw food movement— down to earth for real living people not high priced supps for rich people in Santa Monica (David Wolfe, Julianno)– but Victoria is totally right about the body adapting and getting used to stuff.. I have gotten to the point myself of not even using anything sweet in my smoothies..

  21. thrivesurvive on January 4th, 2009 7:55 pm

    Sergei’s not bad either. :p

  22. Boomhilda on January 4th, 2009 9:00 pm

I think Victoria is awesome and she has done SO much to promote raw foods. Green smoothies are fantastic and incredibly healthy. Given this, why is it that Victoria looks a bit tired and–dare I say it–not real healthy?

  23. rawkinhomeschoolmom on January 7th, 2009 10:46 pm

I think the Boutenkos are amazing, so I don’t mean to be disrespectful…but I don’t understand why, after being Raw for so long, is Victoria’s weight on the heavy side?
