Nickel Creek – Smoothie Song (clip), Ryman, 9-23-2006

A 1:30 clip I took of Nickel Creek jamming on “Smoothie Song” at their concert at the Ryman on September 23, 2006. From balcony, house right.

It’s a Flatiron bouzouki (a modern bouzouki being relatively similar to an octave mandolin [or octave mandola if you're from the UK] but has a longer fretboard / is often tuned differently).

its not always about what it sounds like, its about how it feels to the musician and the emotion the instrument feeds through to the player

Sara looks so unbelievable, as usual. Damn, the girl is smoking 24/7. She’s taking a chance wearing that strapped dress though. It looks like she could have a wardrobe malfunction at any time there.

I loooove this composition…I don’t care that it’s instrumental, it kicks ass all around. One of the best songs on This Side…
