What’s the difference between a smoothie maker and a juicer?

I’ve just been given a kenwood smoothie junior maker for my birthday and I’ve been making smoothies without any problems, but now I want to try making some juices.

In particular, I want to make carrot juice, but I’m worried that my smoothie maker won’t be able to process the carrots. (ie too fragile or not enough power) so, is there any difference between a smoothie maker and a juicer?

If you are not Irish then you will not understand this but if you are then you will know what I mean. This is one day when age old traditions are remembered and followed.

You will also find that the measurements in the original recipes have been modified to American standards.

A great traditional recipe cooked on St. Patrick’s Day is corned beef and cabbage. This is an all time favorite among all Irish people. Other vegetables like potatoes and carrots are also added to this recipe in our house. This makes for an excellent meal because it can be cooked in a crock pot quite early in the morning. No effort is needed to cook this recipe and the dish is ready by dinner time. This is such a simple recipe that you need hardly put in any great effort and you can also be rest assured that you do not even miss a single parade on this day. Try being incognito for the day so that everybody thinks that you were busy cooking your meal.

The beverages that are drunk during this festival include Irish coffee and green beer. For those who do not take to alcoholic beverages there are other non alcoholic beverages like milk shakes, smoothies etc. The color theme for St. Patrick’s Day is green so you can make any recipe which is green like a green smoothie, milk shake etc. Enjoying St. Patrick’s Day is more important than the green color theme or even the drinks. Beta Carotene Blast Smoothie Recipe

3 small ice cubes
2 apricots (sliced and pitted)
1/2 papaya (frozen in chunks)
1/2 mango (frozen in chunks)
1/2 cups carrot juice
1 tablespoon honey

Add ingredients (except for honey) to blender in the order listed, then blend on high speed for 30 seconds. Add honey and blend a few seconds more. Serve in a frosted glass. Option: add orange juice for a thinner consistency.

If you want healthy drink then juices and smoothies are the best for you.  Juices are good ways to maximize your vitamins and minerals intake while minimizing your sugar ingestion.  Meanwhile, if you want variety into your daily dose of fruits, you might try mixing some of your favorite fruits with some citrus, blend them very well and get — a smoothie! For a smoothie, basically, you would need a fruit and a citrus juice to mix using an electric blender or a food processor.  From these you can make endless variations to the combinations you make, from strawberries, to orange, kiwis, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, melon, peach, mango, papaya, and raspberries. Your citrus juice could be apple, cranberry or orange juice. You can also add, ice, yogurt or milk to your mixture.  For an even healthier drink, you can use low-fat or non-fat yogurt. 

 

Use a variety of fruits and vegetables in making your juices and smoothies.  Combining different ingredients will not only make your drink interesting to look at, they will also give you different nutrients necessary to a balanced diet.
