What is the best appliance for making smoothies?

I need a new appliance to make smoothies with. Originally I had a cheap smoothie maker, but it got thrown away. I have heard the blenders are better than the actual smoothie makers. Is this true, and what are the best appliances or brands to make a smoothie with.

Blender. Hands down.
a blender….but of course, a good brand one. you shouldnt have to pay more than $40. be sure to keep your blender receipt as well and read the warranty. smoothies can definitely wear and tear your blender fast so make sure you use a quality one. also, you put ice on top, after all other ingredients. this way, the blades stay sharp. ;)

Cuisinart blender, its great for smoothies. You definitely get what you pay for; its pretty hardcore! Highly recommend, good luck!
