Why was my smoothie no good?

Category: Smoothie Q&A

I thought I could throw some good stuff in a blender and it would turn out delicious, but the last smoothie I made was horrible! I put in strawberries, peaches, bananas, blueberries, rasberry yogurt, milk, juice, some honey, and ice cubes. What did I do wrong? What is the best way to make a good smoothie without having to always follow a recipe?

The combination of juice, honey, milk and ice all together was too much. Try using only 1 or two of them for a better flavor.

I’d go with strawberries, blueberries and raspberry yogurt with some milk (amount depends on how thick or thin you want it) That would be my ideal smoothie/ shake

Well first, it’s a lot of different types of fruit. How about strawberry banana or peach rasberry. Another thing I like to do is freeze the yogurt in ice cube trays for a few hours until they are solid and nix the ice cube all together. Just cut the fruit up into small cubes and freeze them as well. I would skip the honey for splenda or sugar, but I just don’t like honey. Pop the frozen yogurt, fruit, milk, and sweetner with 1/2 capful of vanilla in your blender. Add milk until it’s the consistency you like.

Too many different fruits, some of them not quite ripe enough would be my gues.

Here is what I would suggest:
two types of fruit, like pineapple and peaches
    1/2 cup non/lowfat vanilla yogurt
    a bit of honey
    ice cubes
-blend it all up and if it is too thick add a bit of milk until it is the consistency you want. Most juice is really tart and that often counteracts the sweatness of fresh fruit.

Another thing that I like to do -cut up the fruit and freeze it so you don’t need ice.

i have been making smoothies without a recipe for years

like the last person said, don’t put yogurt, milk, juice and ice cubes. Just put one or two. i would suggest soymilk and one or two ice cubes. soymilk makes a smoothie taste really creamy and good, that’s what jamba juice uses

    dont use honey

then put fruit, but don’t put too many different kinds. Certain combinations taste better than just throwing in a bunch of fruit. Strawberry-banana tastes good, and so does strawberry-orange, blueberry, peach-banana and strawberry-banana-orange.

sorry if that was confusing but good luck :)

sounds like ingredients for a great recipe! was the milk or yogurt expired?

Those ingredients sound like they would make a great smoothie. It was probably the milk was bad or you put too much of something in the smoothie. You don’t really need milk in a smoothie.

Just fruit, ice,and juice. You can put honey or yogurt if you want, but don’t need it. The fruit will be sweet enough.

You can go to Super Walmart, Costco, or Sams Club and buy frozen fruit in the bag. It works really well for making smoothies.

Here is a link to some recipes to get you started:

Just play with them and adjust them to taste and then you would need recipes anymore. They will give you an idea of good combos though.

    Enjoy
